Cyprus: Minus One
After the successful entry of John Karagiannis in the Grand Final of Eurovision Song Contest Vienna 2015 with the song “One Thing I Should Have Done”, Cyprus entrust the fate of the country in the contest of 2016 in the hands of five young musicians who formed the group Minus One.
Minus One is a five piece band that plays everything, from pop and rock classics, to today’s newer hits. The band does not just play covers but rearranges and refreshes the songs bringing them closer to the bands own sound.
The bands strongest point is their performances and choice of songs. Once they get up on stage it’s obvious they are up there to have fun and enjoy what they do, taking the people off stage along for the ride.
The energy and great chemistry among the band's members is phenomenal, also passed on to the crowd off stage and what makes this band stand out.
By adding new songs weekly, they keep their playlist fresh, making the performances always interesting and explosive, and keep trying new things always searching for the next step forward trying to be ahead of the pack and deliver better each time.
In 2015 Minus One was participated at the Cypriot election for the artist that would represent them to Eurovision Song Contest Vienna 2015, they didn’t make it despite the fact that the Judges gave them the first place. This year the Cypriot National Broadcaster assigned them to be the representatives of the 61st anniversary.
The song that Minus One will perform in the stage of Eurovision in Stockholm will be written from G:son and Minus One. G:son has represented lots of countries in Eurovision and he along with Peter Boström were the creators of Euphoria that gave Loreen and Sweden the chance to win the Eurovision Song Contest Azerbaijan 2012.
